October Newsletter

Here's what will be happening in the weeks ahead...

As I write, I am looking out the window of my home office and watching the leaves fall from the tree in my backyard. It is hard for me to believe it is Fall already. Halloween is just around the corner, Thanksgiving is not far behind, and before we know it, it will be Christmas! Time sure does fly when you are having fun… and I don’t know about you, but I am having fun here at Robinson Chapel. I feel truly blessed to be your pastor.

I have served in a few churches over the years, and I am always amazed at how you all show up to help when needed. Everything from mowing the lawn, cleaning up classrooms, providing school supplies for students, and making apple dumplings. And, I am so overwhelmed by how welcoming, loving, and caring you all are.

I just want to say, thank you for who you are; for how you put your faith into action, and how you are living out the word’s of the prayer Jesus taught us, “thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Keep up the good work!

Upcoming Sermon Series…

Come join at “The Table” Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30

Jesus used table fellowship to welcome the marginalized, to teach mission and purpose and to bless those around him.  There is much to learn in these stories and when we walk through them carefully, we can discover the importance of the table and meals as a welcoming mat to meet people where they are.

Each week we will gather around the table to share a meal and discover the power of growing together eating and learning together.

All are welcome, however, in order to ensure we have plenty of food, please let Pastor Peggy know if you plan to attend.

Please return your pledge card on or before October 12.

Serving at Robinson Chapel UMC is  more than volunteering—it’s an opportunity to share God’s love     and use your gifts to bless others.

This year, we have provided a booklet that highlights the many ways you can serve,  so that you can find the place where your heart and talents can make a difference.

After prayerful consideration, please fill out your pledge card to let us know your commitment of financial support as well as the ways you will serve with your time and talents.  Join us in building a church that welcomes, nurtures, and blesses all.

Did you know…

Have you ever wondered what the teddy bears in the pews are for? These “Prayer Bears” are there for you to give to anyone who needs to feel God’s love in a tangible way. Since flowers are often not allowed in the ICU, these bears can offer love and comfort to someone who’s there. Flowers don’t seem to last very long, and our little prayer bears are a lasting reminder of God’s love and care.

This ministry has blessed countless people over the years. One of our bears has even traveled to Thailand to someone who was in an accident! They have blessed many of our friends, family, and neighbors. Maybe you know someone that just needs a reminder that God loves them, and so do we! So, take a bear, give it to someone and help spread God’s love!

Apple Dumpling Update

On September 20th, the lower level was buzzing with many workers bees, all hard at work making apple dumplings.

Thank you to everyone who came and helped that morning, to those who donated the needed supplies, and those who made purchases.

We were able to make and sell 457 apple dumplings!
